FILES RECEIVED
==========

Rating System (minimum acceptance: 11 points between three judges)
(0) F: Horribly stepped with a total disregard of sync; steps either do not represent the chart at all or cannot be comprehended within the song.
(1) E: Poorly stepped file with lack of care toward sync; many misrhythms and very small/non-existent chart representation.
(2) D: Some care of sync, but presents constant difficulty imbalances, constant layering issues, and/or mis-rhythms.
(3) C: Some care of sync; but has minor issues that must be attended to such as inconsistencies in layering, rhythms, and or difficulty.
(4) B: Good file with care of sync and presents specific patterns; contains minor errors that are bearable and not major. Minimum rating for acceptance.
(5) A: Great file, well-synced, good musical representation.
(6) S: You get one of these, give yourself a pat on the back.
[/]: Judge file. Equal to B or better for judge that sent it.

stage 3-1 would be a cool easy file if it wasnt so so soooooo sooooooooooooo repetitive. not just the song but the file itself repeated a lot and that kinda ruins it. good attempt though and it wouldve gotten an accept from me had the file not repeated so much [D]

Mess It Upgreat song too bad the file completely blows :jk:. i played through it a handful of times and i still dont really know what you're layering those 16ths to. flow was pretty all over the place and some of those pattern transitions could be better. kinda seems like you didnt really know what to do with the file. dont blame you though theres a lot going on. [C]
kjwkjw

to the heaven hey very cool song choice didnt know you had it in you lol JK BRO. second thing ya notes are late by a whole 48th note. not that important since they can change the sync before they add anything to the engine but its something to keep in mind. now onto the file! im not really a big fan of stepping dnb just because its so hard to pick what you want to layer since both the kick and the snare are both equally dominate in pretty much every dnb song ever. you chose to layer neither which was a nice change of pace but because of that the file becomes pretty dull. it also tends to lead to inconsistent jump usage which you have in your file. maybe try putting jumps to the snares being carful not to overstep. like have a jump for a snare and if there is another snare hit thats a 16th or an 8th from the first snare jump the make them a jack. pretty much add jump to every snare hit that lands on a 4th.play around with the file a bit more. dont just do what i suggest though because thats just an idea lol. i have no idea if it'll work or not. during the first little synth solo that starts at 25.03 instead of layering the synth try layering the piano chords that you hear in the background. file needs some work but i can see myself accepting it in the future [C]

Alloyus

Oh! Oh! Oh! Sexy Vampire lol this song. layering is all over the place[D]

samurai

jig those are some pretty pretty pretty dumb patterns you should know better than to step like this : |[D]

rushy

Circus Gallopthis wasnt as bad as i thought it would be. i honestly would accept this if you fix a crap load of things. id rather talk to you than list everything here though. [D]

Fantasy is actually cued to go in game. We will put a review up for it though. Now guys we really need you to start sending the files to the email. When they get sent to one or the other of us through aim or pm or whatever they tend to get sidetracked or lost. It's a lot easier for us to keep track of them all when they are right there in the email that we can both access. If you don't remember the email its dragonsfuryffrbatch@gmail.com

With exception of Wolf by Night (etc.) by Woker, and Tomatoshadow's file - if your file hasn't been put in game or added to the first post on the other thread, it hasn't been accepted.

Files need to be sent for the e-mail now to be reviewed for inclusion to the game.

Happy Gang Bang is queued, iirc.

Again, it's a big mess with people submitting files everywhere and us choosing to start today. I'll figure out where to start again. Tell you what, I'll review files from Happy Gang Bang and newer, because a file just after Happy Gang Bang got accepted. Assume your file isn't accepted otherwise.

Remember, you need to have seven points accumulated between two judges. Without Kayla's reviews - none of these are accepted. xD

And aj thanks for that review. You see, that part you're talking about is really tricky. We didn't layer it I can tell you that. But its just really awkward lol So we stepped accordingly compared to what we heard and or what the rest of the chart expresses, basically.

It's just a lil easy part :] the other parts are repetitive but a little complicated in each their own way. The artist is mooseymaniac and the actual song name is =.The Ocean.= but it's up to you whether you want the equal signs and the periods. I guess it doesnt show up on SM.

Two major problems present themselves in this file - one is a lack of variety; you don't need a huge block of 16ths in the entire song. If the song starts to lose intensity, make the chart do the same. If the song gets more intense, make the chart do the same. The other major problem in this song is the lack of consistency in certain areas. Take measures 16 and 17 for example - in 16, you're syncopating with the main melody, absolutely nothing wrong with that, but in measure 17, you lose that syncopation and only focus on the melody again. Measures 80-86 could be stepped a bit better as well, the jumps don't really go to much.

I was just stepping what I heard. I heard the sixteenth synthesizer and I stepped it. This stepping thing is getting me really confused. Half the time I hear step what you hear and make it sync'd, the other is use stepping theory (the intensity determines difficulty). I went with listening thinking it would be more fun and challenging. D: I did drop the intensity (little counts) by not layering the snare if that counts >.> I just think that synth is still intense.

16 & 17: I thought that would be wrong to do, but I also thought it would be cruel wrong to step the drums and the off-beat melody as I've seen that in some songs (mostly the JS songs but in others as well). I thought it was okay because I've seen it in some files and it was fine to do that.

80-86: I went with the glugging sound (gargling-ish sound?) and drums. So just drop the gurgle stuff and just do the drums?

saphira wrote:
You're getting really close with this file but it feels like you're trying to force it to be more difficult. The biggest issue is you're continuing the runs when the song has cooled down. After the one jumpstream section you continue the run when the music has softend up then towards the end again you put in another run which just feels kinda out of place with the sound of the music. But don't give up you really aren't far off I enjoy the rest of the chart just play around with those sections a little more.

Same as the first statement above.

Thanks for the critiques!

The Ocean (ichliebekase & krunkykai22) (C)

I agree with AJ here "Measures 29-32 had a slight inconsistency issue (seemed like you took parts of the previous synth and only partially layered it in), but the rest of the file is actually pretty good, albeit slightly repetitive." The only other thing I really have to add is about the one handed trills. I feel kinda like they were just thrown in to bump the difficulty of the song when it was on a great track to begin with. It's going to be another one of those files people are like "the ending blah blah blah" But overall it's pretty good. Just don't try to force a more difficult file out of a song that doesn't really have it. Kinda like what Mikeys been doing with kero kero most of the file is pretty good but then he seems to be trying to force a higher difficulty out of it.

The ending one handed trills was my idea. My reasoning for doing it wasn't to bump up the difficulty, it was because Frankie told me no for the beginning, yet we were using the saaaame trills the entire song which just got more and more boring. It's an extremely repetitive song and I said "let the one handed trills happen, I don't care if people complain." So I only put it in there a few times then put the trills back to what they were in the beginning. All in all, it wasn't for a difficulty bump, it was for a change of the chart since it repeated itself so much.

Shattered Dreams - first thing first offset should be .22. although the offset problem could be fixed when converting the file for the engine its always good to know you've got the right offset in the first place when stepping because it could seriously affect your stepping. for example you might use 6ths instead of 48ths or what not because the offset was wrong. not for Da Pattern And Layerin And What Not. p nice easy file only complaint is that you go from stepping everything and layering in the melody to only stepping the vocals and nothing else. during the vocal section you could put jumps to the snare hit and add steps to the bass guitar. keep in mind that when the snare and the vocals land on the same beat that doesnt mean add a hand that just mean s one note will represent two sounds so there will still only be a jump there. with the bass guitar though when the vocals and bass guiatr meet in the same beat then add a jump. what im saying is dont get carried away and add hands lol. other than that pretty good easy file thats enjoyable and not a chore to play. [B]

Considering its an 80's file, im happy with that Very Happy
ill get the fixed version done when i get back.

Anisakis Cool someone decided to step this for the custom. again inconsistency issues. the jumps in the 16th stream in the first half of the file i have no clue what hose go to from just playing it as is. seems like you tried to attempt to make an eassy file for this song but it didnt work out to well. i like the idea of just adding steps to the piano when it only plays every other 4th note but you over due it in the difficulty section when the piano plays more often than every other 4th. try to balance the file out more so difficulty doesnt differ so much throughout the file. i get the song has a climax point but you have the difficulty going everywhere throughout the song. again nice attempt and i really like some of the things you did to make it an easy file you just need to refine it some more.[D]

The jumps do go to drum notes, but ill take them out if you want
Same with the ones at the end Smile
Although, in the last section, ill leave them in for a climax effect, which in theory, should make it a 25-26.
