FGO score ethics

So I've been playing some VCs, FMOs, and FGOs for the sake of a score (to lower my averank), and I encountered an ethical dillemma:

Should I mash the songs for the highest possible combo, or
Should I keep my combo low, which reflects my real skill?

Don't mash. It's pointless. Just try your best without mashing. They average rank really relies in the other 650+ songs that you don't need to mash. The easier songs will get you the rank. The mashed scores are just shit and should be removed. Even my own mashed scores should be removed. The guru songs don't have many ranks on them anyway. So if you just try them, you'll get a low rank. Mashing for a decimal decrease in Average rank is not worth it.

i mashed but only when 'Here We Go' was in reach. then they added DP and RATO, and I gave up on it.

Alright. I wasn't sure whether people were using combo as a measure of skill on tough songs. (After all, it does take some wrist-jacking skill to mash through so many arrows.) Thanks for the advice!

Mashing will get you the better rank and score since FFR is combo based, but to be honest, I'd rather see someone non mash it and get a better looking score then one with 600+ boos and no misses. The person who doesnt mash looks more skilled to me.

Well, depends on what you want to do. If you want to work on your PA then you don't. But if you want to lower your rank you mash the shit out of all the FGOs. lol

but almost all of the FGOs have low rankings anyway, so there's no point in lowering your rank by like 2 or 5 :/ Just play the easier songs to jump like 50 or so.

Mash to get the FC, then just play for PA, afterall you don't get better going for PA but for trying comboing harder songs that you can play comfortably at.

Learn to accurately mash. You can get away with an FC without being called a n00bmash0r!!
For Example, you can mash and get away with 65 boos on Eclipse if you don't freak out and quad vibrate the stream and you just do a constant jumptrill.

This is an acquired skill tho and takes loads of practice to get the "accurate mash" down right. You're not going to go and get a FC on Reality if you can't AAA a 7.
